New 30-Minute Documentary: Beer Run

Part drinking, part social event and part fitness, hashing is a beer soaked rite that brings people together from all walks of life from college students in their 20’s to business professionals in their 70’s to run, jog, walk or even crawl on designated trails that lead to beer, beer, and more beer. Around the world, over 200,000 hashers escape the rat race to join in on the run, and with each passing year, the ranks of these beer guzzlers swells. “Beer Run” is a 30-minute documentary that takes you along for a mad dash from one watering hole to the next with a rowdy “drinking group with a running problem”.

Get to know perky co-ed Mindy. Mindy dreams of becoming a lawyer, but just can’t seem to pass the bar. Grab a drink with Running Randy Rhodes, a one-time world class long jumper who’s chasing after a new all-time high. Meet Bill, a 62-year-old lawyer who works for the federal government in Washington, DC by day – by night known as “Mellow Foreskin Cheese” to his fellow hashers. This globetrotting hashing evangelist has dedicated his life to this pursuit of beer, and has attracted hundreds of converts to the fold along the way. Bill has been hashing in over 18 countries and 27 states since 1992.

Producer Avery Gimble better known as “Royally Mount Me Puhlease” joins the notorious “Every Day is Wednesday” hashing crew for a sweat filled night of beer swilling and raunchy song. With a microphone in one hand and a mug in the other, Avery will give you an all access pass to the party, and introduce you to the colorful cast of characters with this motley band on the run. It’s time to put on your running shoes, grab a mug, and join in the fun – it’s time for a “Beer Run”.

Deputies run first ‘paramilitary’ fitness test

A sheriff’s deputy with a shaved head yelled through a megaphone into the rain: “You can run faster than that. Come on. You’re all running like sissies.”

The Clayton County Sheriff’s deputies, standing behind the yelling Capt. Samuel Smith, laughed.

They stood in sleeveless T-shirts and loose shorts, some of them sweating and some of them wet from the rain drizzling down on Tara Field and the sheriff’s office’s first physical fitness review.

“This is how we start getting in shape and start reshaping law enforcement,” Sheriff Victor Hill said. “If criminals can outrun us and outfight us, then we’re not protecting the public.”

Hill believes his office is the first in the state to require deputies to take an annual fitness test.

How does the Treo hold up to jogging?

How does the Treo hold up to jogging?

Hi,

I was curious how well the Treo holds up to jogging or quick movements? I think there is an arm band holster that holds the treo on your arm (similar to an Ipod). Does the shaking / bouncing motion harm the treo? Are there any types of moving parts that could break from the shaking?

Thanks,

Rich

beaTunes 1.1 update

beatunes.png

I wrote about beaTunes as it unleashed itself upon the world with the 1.03 version back in September. A couple days ago Hendrik sent out an email announcing an updated version of the application taking it to 1.1.

Here is an overview of the 1.1 update - beaTunes - an iTunes add-on for Mac & Windows, popular especially amongst DJs, athletes and audiophiles. beaTunes analyzes the color and tempo (BPM) of your songs, intelligently creates playlists of matching songs, corrects your iTunes Music Library (typos, wrong genres, etc.), lets you blog about your playlists, and more.

Whether you need to build a compelling DJ set or workout-playlist for your Nike + iPod, beaTunes can help. It lets you build better playlists.

Version 1.1 stays true to the original concept - but makes it even better. We have tuned the user interface, improved support for multi-core systems, introduced match rulesets, and completely rewritten the blogging component.

Best sport headphones for running & cycling?

Hy guys!

What are the best headphones for sport activity, espeically running and

cycling?

They need to be sweat & water resistant (summer can be very hot) and

they must stay in the ear easily.

And, another thing, i would like to spend less than 20 pounds (40$)…

I have looked at the many sennheiser models (omx 70, mx70…) beacuse

they are easy to find here in italy… any suggestion?

Thanks!
