Our review of the Nike Pegasus Plus
The Nike Pegasus Plus is now available at i-Run!
Considered by some to be the spiritual descendant of the Nike Pegasus Turbo, the Nike Pegasus Plus promises, according to Nike, “even more responsive cushioning, an energized stride, optimal energy return and a Flyknit upper that wraps the shape of the foot for a seamless fit”.
Does this pair from the Swoosh brand live up to its heritage? In our Nike Pegasus Plus test, you'll find out everything about this new model. From first visual impressions to performance on the run, learn all you need to know about this model that's already grabbing your attention.
Introduction to the Nike Pegasus Plus
Nike, with its rich history in sports innovation, introduces the Nike Pegasus Plus, a shoe positioned in the Nike Pegasus lineup between the Nike Pegasus 41 and the Nike Pegasus Premium.
Inheriting the design of the former Nike Turbo, much loved by runners, the Nike Pegasus Plus nonetheless inherits technologies such as Flyknit fabric and Nike ZoomX foam from the Nike Pegasus range.
This shoe, designed for running enthusiasts, perfectly balances everyday comfort and athletic performance. One of our testers, a loyal Pegasus fan with experience using the Turbo model, was curious to find out how this new model compares with its predecessors.
First impressions of the Pegasus Plus: Design and First Try-on
Design and aesthetics
Upon unboxing, the Nike Pegasus Plus immediately impresses with its elegance, underlined by a colored stripe that gives it an undeniably sporty character. This nod to the Pegasus Turbo versions, reinforces the visual identity of the range and brings a touch of modernity. The shoe's appearance gives it a sporty, high-performance feel, with a look that balances innovation and design faithful to the Pegasus series.
At first glance, the quality lives up to Nike's reputation for reliable, well-designed products. Thanks to the materials used, the shoe feels both robust and light. This clean, airy look is reinforced by the Flyknit upper, which increases breathability and reduces the shoe's weight.
The Nike Pegasus Plus is well finished with precise stitching, demonstrating Nike's attention to detail.
The shoe's colors are faithful to those featured on the site. Different colors are available, so you're sure to find the model that perfectly matches your style.
Build quality and feel
The first feel of the Nike Nike Pegasus Plus in your hand confirms the impression of high-quality build. Immediately, we notice a feeling of sturdiness that doesn't impact the shoe's lightness. This sturdiness is appreciated as it suggests that the shoe can withstand wear and tear without sacrificing comfort or performance.
The Nike Pegasus Plus, with a weight of around 243g (approx. 245g for a men's size 44), are impressively light, a guarantee of speed and agility during runs.
The feeling of sturdiness is confirmed by the special attention paid to areas under stress and strain during running, such as the sole and upper. The use of lightweight, ultra-durable Flyknit fibers ensures the flexibility, elasticity, and breathability runners seek.
Initial visual and tactile impressions of the Nike Pegasus Plus are therefore rather positive.
Comfort at first try-on
Immediate sensation
The first time you try on the Nike Zoom Pegasus Plus, you immediately notice the comfort, with a « cushioned feel » provided by the ZoomX foam. This technology makes the shoe lighter, and delivers a pleasant return of energy with each step thanks to a rebound effect.
Size and fit
Pegasus Plus are true to size and offer a precise fit that suits the majority of runners. Designed to be comfortable from the very first wear, they require no special break-in period.
However, runners with narrow feet might find that the shoes are slightly wide, which may require a tighter lacing.
On this subject, you'll find our lacing tips in our article “How to lace your running shoes”.
Support and fit
Thanks to the Flyknit upper, the Nike Pegasus Plus conforms perfectly to the shape of the runner's foot. This innovative fabric provides excellent support and optimal air circulation to keep feet cool. A slightly firmer structure is present around the heel and arch to stabilize the foot during running, reducing the risk of ankle twists or injury.
Material responsiveness
In terms of material responsiveness, the shoe responds well under pressure in different running conditions. You can feel the quality of the construction and the responsiveness of the sole as soon as you try them on for the first time. The sole, even without a carbon plate, is still effective in providing adequate traction and good control on multiple surfaces.
We can conclude that the first try-on of the Nike Pegasus Plus is a success. The shoe meets the runner's expectations in terms of comfort, and all that remains is to see whether the shoe's design and comfort enhance the running experience.
First real-life test of the Nike Pegasus
Race type and conditions
We tested the Nike Pegasus Plus in various conditions to test their versatility and adaptability to different environments.
The first session was a one-hour fundamental endurance run in sunny weather. This session allows us to evaluate sweat management and comfort in warm conditions.
Also, the shoes show versatility in occasional off-road transitions, but the Nike Pegasus Plus are not suitable for more technical or uneven terrain.
Feel during the run
Feedback on overall running comfort is unanimously positive. One of the most striking features is the sensation of “no longer feeling the shoes”, which testifies to a natural fit and significantly reduces fatigue.
ZoomX foam is particularly appreciated for its responsive cushioning, which delivers a smooth, comfortable stride, even over long distances.
In terms of stability and grip, the Nike Pegasus Plus performs well on roads and gravel paths. Although we didn't test the shoe in rainy conditions, the outsole provides good traction on various dry surfaces. Finally, its design suggests reliable performance in wet or rainy weather.
The shoe test was carried out in sunny weather, allowing us to evaluate only ventilation and sweat management, without being biased by the humidity linked to weather conditions.
Despite the dry weather, the Nike Pegasus kept feet cool, thanks to good ventilation, made possible by the Flyknit upper, an essential element in guaranteeing comfort during prolonged sessions.
Thanks to their breathability, the shoes dry quickly—a great feature that helps them stay in good condition longer. If you want to learn more about keeping your running shoes as long as possible, read our article « How to take care of running shoes? »

Compared to other shoes, the Nike Pegasus Plus offer a superior post-run feeling, with less stress on the joints and better overall recovery.
Nike Pegasus Plus: Long-term use
Multi-session experience
From the very first wear and over the weeks that followed, the Nike Pegasus Plus offered consistent comfort, avoiding the break-in period often required with new pairs.
The comfort felt on the first try-on is not only maintained, but sometimes even improved with repeated use.
In terms of wear, the ZoomX foam and Flyknit upper are designed for superior durability. Indeed, the first signs of wear are minor, with no noticeable impact on running comfort.
Performance over a wide range of distances
The Nike Pegasus Plus adapt very easily to different distances, from short, fast runs to longer, more demanding distances. Their versatility is confirmed by the fact that they can be used for both MAS sessions and long, regular outings.

- Cushioning: The cushioning provided by ZoomX foam is particularly appreciated, providing effective impact protection while remaining light and responsive.
